Legal Stuff
MP3s are great when they can be shared. Most of the songs that are posted are available for free on the artist's website or label. On occassion I post songs from my own collection, but they are available for a limited time. Songs are also better when you own them, so please use the links that I provide to legally purchase the music you hear on this site and podcast.

The Spores
When you think of spores, you hardly think of anything good. Mold spores? Bad. The Spores? Way good.

This Los Angeles based band just released their debut album, Imagine the Future on June 27. They're fronted by Molly McGuire who has recorded with Frank Black, Queens of the Stone Age and Peaches. The rest of the group include guitarist Greg Biribauer and drummer Kenny Pierce.

Their first single, Don't Kill Yourself is about three minutes of pure enjoyment and interestingly enough the group added the "Don't" to the title of the song to avoid any potential legal problems. But don't worry, these spores are good and you won't want to kill yourself.

Silversun Pickups
Silversun Pickups reminds us that it is still to rock, even though they are from LA the land of indie rock.

I just got through listening to a bunch of their songs on their myspace page and really dig this band. They are starting to tour again and you can find their dates on myspace.

Silversun Pickup's first full-length album, Carnavas, will be available on July 25.

Funky Nashville
Filter Magazine describes Funky Nashville like this, "Sounding like the result of an all night bender with Johnny Cash, New Order and Cake, the boys from Funky Nashville sweep in like a wave of hot desert air." I'm also going to add Roy Orbison to that mix because Sverre Stein Nielsen's voice reminds me a wee bit of Orbison's.

By looking at the lead singer's name you can also guess that Funky Nashville doesn't come from Nashville. They actually come from Denmark and describe their music as country groove. I get the groove, the funky and the country. I can imagine their music being included on a soundtrack for a B-movie spaghetti western where the music is way better than the movie.

Funky Nashville's U.S. debut album, Hitch a Ride comes out on July 11. Check out the title track below as well as the first single.
